Psychedelic Deco

Last year, I sold a pretty amazing but what I can only describe as "psychedelic deco" 20s dress.  This past weekend, when on a buying trip/visit with my pal Rueby Retro, I found another vividly coloured and designed 20s tufted purse, which shall soon be making its way to my shop.  My 20s chocolate box also reflects some psychedelic deco design tendencies! Now, you can see where the 60s got it from!

The dress is really too fantastic. I'm amazed that it's from the 20s, it would look right at home in a wardrobe full of 60s clothes.

That colour palette is so '60s!! I wonder if somebody in the '60s used 1920's colours as inspiration? They say everything comes around again!

When I worked at the university library we had some fabric sample books from the Victorian era, some of those fabrics looked like they were straight out of the 1960's with their mad colours and patterns too.

How fantastic!! I have a '20s dress which is orange with a bright blue windowpane plaid, and a peter par collar-- so ridiculously MOD!

The dress is so cute, I don't know how you have the will power to not keep all your glorious finds. You look adorable in it! xx

Very far out and the bee's knees in one go! :) (Sorry, I couldn't resist - it's not everyday one gets to mix 20s and 60s lingo in the same sentence.)

It really is fascinating though how certain designs, fabrics and garments from the 20s (and sometimes 30s) were strikingly similar to some of those from the swinging 60s. One can't help but wonder if the designers of the (60s) day were rifling through some of their parents or grandparents closets for sartorial inspiration.

Yes, I do think 60s and early 70s designers very consciously hearkened back to the 20s! While not for the shy, I think the original technicolour items are dreamy!
