Lemon-y Lovelies (and a few other non-yellow beauties, too)

For some reason, I recently acquired several yellow vintage items (I guess lemony hues were big in the 40s and 50s!). Some of the loveliest ones are on consignment with me from my friend Rueby Retro (yes, I *do* do consignments sometimes with my shop, usually locally for now).

1950s FRANK STARR designer label Fur Felt Asymmetrical Beret Hat

1940s BETTY BARCLAY Designer Label Yellow Devore Leaf Rayon Swag Dress
1940s FRANK STARR ORIGINALS Designer Yellow Chiffon & Rayon Gown

1940s Yellow & Purple Tulip Novelty Feedsack Cotton Sun Dress

1940s "Adrian of Toronto" Wine Illusion Lace & Rayon Peplum Cocktail Dress

These items are still to be added to the shop....

1940s Chocolate Crepe de Chine Fringe Hem Cocktail Dress

1940s/50s "Timberline" Yellow & Black Grid '49er style Jacket

1930s/40s Damask Wedding Gown with Train

There are some lovely things here but the wedding dress is by far my favourite, it's just gorgeous.

Oh, yikes! That Frank Starr gown is so amazing it made my heart stop for a moment. I've been waiting patiently for a perfect yellow gown but unfortunately yellow is the kind of colour I would really need to try on before buying because it could go so wrong with my skin tone... But it is just so, so perfect. Some girl who ends up with that is going to be very, very lucky.

Thanks, Helen Mae! Yes, it's such a beauty. I think it may have been a wartime 'mend and make do creation," to be honest. It's definitely handmade and the damask fabric is amazing but feels like it could have once had another life as a beautiful bedspread or grand table cloth!!!!

I know what you mean, Miss Marie. Yellow can be fickle. Canary yellow made my heart sing in this case!!

Perfectly lovely pieces one and all! I dubbed green my colour of 2013, and that it is, but by about June, I was feeling yellow big time (it's a tricky colour for me to wear, but I can usually pull of some shades on the light and dark sides of the yellow spectrum), so this post and all these beautiful pieces are right up my alley!
