So, I am considering trying to rent the 2005 James Ivory direction movie
The White Countess, after seeing some stills online. Not sure how I missed this the first time round but I did! Apparently it's set in 1930s Shanghai. Coincidentally, its cast includes two actresses who recently passed: Natasha Richardson and Lynn Redgrave, which might be a bit unsettling to some, I suppose. However, it also stars Ralph Fiennes and Lee Pace, two dashing leading men. Has anyone else seen this film? Thoughts? Okay, time to drool over the costumes.

I've never heard of this one! But the costumes look really beautiful.
Yes! I saw this a while ago and it is GORGEOUS - very "Merchant-Ivory" if you know what I mean. You will love it!
I've never seen this film but the costumes look great.
Beautiful outfits!!! I think I may have to watch this film...

Hats! Anything with hats gets major approval points from me. I have to say the red day outfit is my favorite, but the blue gown is a close second. I have never even heard of this movie, but I'm adding it to my net flicks tonight.
I saw this on DVD a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. It's an interesting film and the costumes and scenery are gorgeous!
Beautiful costumes! Now I want to go find it and watch it!
ALright....off to see if I can get it at the local video store!!! Thanks, all!
Hope you will post a review! Wasn't Natasha Richardson related to Miss Redgrave - her daughter? Or niece?
I've never even heard of it - must have a look!

OHHH! I just love movies set in Shanghai in the 1920-1930's. I think it would have been an amazing time. I haven't hear of this movie though. It looks just charming!

Drat! Our local video store doesn't have it! Not sure whether I want to buy the thing without seeing it (we don't get Netflix here). Maybe someone else who has seen it can review it for us??
1930s Girls: Yes, I recall that there is a family connection there (I think she's the niece of Vanessa and/or Lynn Redgrave....?
I've never heard of this movie! Adding it to my queue now. :)
