V-E Day, 1945

To commemorate Victory in Europe (VE) Day, here are some images showing how people in the cities of Toronto and Ottawa, Canada celebrated the news back in 1945.

This might sound like a pretty ignorant thing to say, but I'm always telling people how I wish I had lived in the 1940s because it was such an exciting time to be alive! Pictures like these and movies like Atonement and The Edge of Love only make me wish for such dangerously exciting times all the more...

these are such wonderful photos, the happy and excitng mood is captured so well especially the first one. unfortunately VE day anniversary celebrations here in britain have been slightly stunted by news attention on the formation of the new government which is not quite as exciting and nobody looks anywhere near as happy as in the photos.

Hey! I was thinking of getting a pinafore/suspender skirt made up by nudeedudee - I've never had anything made up before and am a bit nervous about spending so much money on something over the internet. I believe you were quite impressed with her work? I'd just like some feedback from someone who's worked with her before. =] Thanks in advance!
