Birthday Bonanza Revisited, Part One

Don't get me wrong.  I live, sleep, and constantly wear vintage.  I really do.  However, there's such marvellous craftsmanship to be enjoyed in some repro. garments as well.  To this end, back in March, I mentioned I was going to spend my birthday money on having Nudeedudee make me a little something. With some hard-earned funds from the Etsy shop added to the mix, I ended up purchasing two fantastic outfits.  For the first, we decided to make a copy of a dress from a 1930s catalogue, but done up into separates and without the bust emphasizing pockets.

Wow, beautiful dress!!! I think there's a lot to be said for repro, because it lasts longer and you can get it in exactly your size, but really I'm a vintage girl at heart too..
Your dress is absoultely amazing!

if you have the possibility to make your own stuff or have it made for you it's great, at the end of the day there's nothing like a bespoke garment, let alone you don't have to worry about it being too fragile to have fun in.

Aw, thanks! It was meant to be a semi-casual dress. I am starting to work on my golf game and really dislike most golf clothes for women, so thought I'd go with a vintage look. Now, however, I think it's too nice to golf in, so may have to go with something even more casual, but still 30s style.

I totally agree about bespoke being easier to wear when you don't want to fuss over fragility, garofit, and Carys, the size factor is definitely a bonus as well. 30s dresses often fail to fit me in the hips, so am thrilled to have something tailored just for me! xoxo
