On the Isle of Capri

Wow, that gorgeous dress I blogged about last night sold out in a heartbeat, as I knew it would.  Miss Mucho is selling a 1970s-does-30s dress that has many of the same lovely design elements and is much less expensive than a 1930s frock might be.  This one makes me want to sing out the lyrics to "Isle of Capri" and sip exotic cocktails on a sunny patio somewhere.  Sometimes that's the beauty of fashion styles coming back around (and often in a less delicate form)! Case in point: I'm definitely loving 1930s or 30s style tropical floral evening dresses: perfect for a couple of somewhat formal events I've got coming up this summer. What's on your must-have list for this summer---or are you still thinking of spring?

I'm really loving tropical too right now. There's a few Hawaiian-style dresses I've been gushing over on Etsy.

Talk about great minds - and fashion styles! :) I too was eying this tropically lovely frock yesterday (or was it Tuesday? one of the two :D), but know from past experiences that maxi dresses rarely work on my shorter (5'2") frame.

Whoever got this great dress is one lucky gal for sure, it's the kind of piece you could pretty much wear from June to early September straight.

Tons of hugs & blissful Thursday wishes,
♥ Jessica

Aren't tropical prints dreamy?? I've had a thing for Alfred Shaheen dresses for a while now, so know what you mean about the gush factor of Hawaiian dresses, Francy!!!!

It doesn't look as "70s" as some of these gowns can look, does it? I had to look twice when I first saw the listing. I truly thought it was 30s. Go figure!

Jessica, yes, the maxi dress look can be tricky if you are petite! At 5 foot 6.5, some of these frocks make me look tall and others make me look dumpy....it all depends on the style and print. Fun to "virtual window shop," though, isn't it?! ;)

That is a lovely dress. =] Haha. 'Isle of Capri' always makes me think of the naughtier lyrics mum and my sister used to sing...I don't know all of them unfortunately. Actually, come to think of it they were a bit violent/rude.

Oh, I can only imagine those lyrics, Andi, you naughty kitten ;)
