Miss Henderson and Me

Oooh, nothing makes Monday more glorious than the arrival of a lovely parcel in the mail with a lovely birthday frock for me! My divine Miss Irene Henderson dress from Able Grable came today so I just had to try it on (naughty Baroness opening another birthday present early, but I bought it for myself so I can do what I want ;0)! Truly, it is just my dream dress! The cut, the fabric pattern....SWOON! I even love that this dress was inspired by one of my absolute favourite films, The Lady Vanishes, starring Margaret Lockwood as Miss Irene Henderson. Well, this lady is about to vanish shortly as well. Being part black irish and married to another who is the same, we're off to the local for an early St. Patrick's day soir. Not sure that I shall risk having green beer coming in contact with Miss Henderson. Also, after a pint or two, I always have to break out the Irish dancing moves, so will probably need to change, but really could wear this frock forever!!

Wow, you look just perfect and I love the dress!

Thanks for the comment. Just out of curiosity, what goes into making an Etsy store financially successful? I don't plan on making it my livelihood any time soon, if ever, but am curious to find out what you've learned through your experience. If you have time and want to share, that is:)

You look gorgeous, and so does the dress! I can't wait to get my hands on an Able Grable dress, but which one do i go for?!

My family live in Saskatoon, which is quite south i think? Not sure where that is in relation to you, but don't you worry a visit will definitely be in order!

That looks fantastic on you!! And how funny... I just rented The Lady Vanishes and didn't know that is where the dress was inspired from! Now I want to watch it even more, but it will have to wait until tomorrow... it's beau's night for movie pickin' and he is on a western kick! Oh...

Thanks again!

Stefanie...my grandmother and ALL her family were from Vanscoy, which is just outside Saskatoon!!! Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is West of where I live here in Ontario. We drove through on our loooooong trip across Canada from Vancouver to our new home. Small world, but big country!

Lolita...thanks very much! Ooh, a western kick sounds fun...but definitely recommend The Lady. Nothing like a Hitchcock mystery!!

PS, Stef: I'm no help in choosing from all Able Grable's frocks. I've ordered two of the Miss Irene Henderson (the other's in that violet purple I was raving about). The other designs look amazing, too. The Ready Hedy in a cotton would be just perfect for summer...

Lovely dress! I love that Hitchcock film although I've only seen a more recent version of it with Sybil Shepherd.
