Roberta (Revisited)
In anticipation of the upcoming "Tea with the Vintage Baroness," I was planning to do a little post about 1930s afternoon dresses and I may still do, if time permits. In the mean-time, some of you may find The Painted Woman's post informative and illustrative of possible tea table garb. I also thought I'd re-post a video clip from my absolute favourite 30s fashion-centred films: 1935's Roberta. Yes, Fred and Ginger are as swoon-worthy as ever in this flick, but it's the Bernard Newman-designed CLOTHING that keeps me hitting pause, rewind.

Adore this film, what I love about most of these clothes is the impractability, definately what we today would call Taxi Clothes.

Wow, those are some truly incredible outfits! I don't do 30s much, but these ensembles really have me itching to visit the era sartorially!

This really is the swooniest flick. I almost pass out every time I rewatch. Be sure you have a fainting couch and smelling salts at hand when you tune in :)
I've always loved the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films, the clothes from them are fabulous. The striped dress reminds me of the one Myrna Loy wore in The Thin Man. Must find Roberta and watch it again.
This is my favourite Fred and Ginger! Partly because I absolutely love the fashion!
