Looks like a new A & E mini series about infamous duo Bonnie & Clyde is set to air. I peeked at some of the costume stills circulating online and I see lots of era-accurate knitwear (as shown in the photo of me at the end of the post, I owned a 30s crocheted dress that was very similar in sleeve and colours to the one Bonnie is wearing in the second image). You can glimpse some more of the costumes in the clip, "Fashion for Fugitives," which is posted on the A & E website.

La Vie en Rouge
I went to the French Quarter Farmer's Market in town yesterday and was happy the weather was crisp enough to allow me to wear my new knitted top. Doesn't it have a 1930s air to it? I thought so. It's made by a French company, too! I wore my new-to-me 1930s shell brooch. Isn't she a doll face? I'm still trying to name her, though. Any ideas?? I was considering Claudette, but would love to hear your suggestions. 1930s carved cellulite birdy bangle and the 20s/30s chenille beret (which I got in Montreal) rounded out my accessories.

Perennial Pretties
The other spring-like vintage things I am perennially drawn to around this time: 30s candy coloured knitwear. Last year, spring was just "peachy" (first image); this year, it's "hello, bluebird"(albeit in a less aesthetic background, I admit)! Actually, I'm selling the blue set in the second image in my etsy shop. Send me a convo if you are interested!

Blossom Hunting & an Early Summer Knit Fit
Around here, the Victoria Day long weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer. Happily, the weather today was magnificently summer-like, which caused many of the trees to finally blossom. To celebrate the harbingers of summer, the mister and I drove to the beautiful town of Dundas to hunt down some photogenic places with blooms nearby. Being one who always loves an excuse for dress-up, I donned a top to toe 30s look directly inspired by my beloved knitting and crocheting pattern book ladies (hat is 30s crochet, top is 30s knit [with what I think is also crochet--or lacy knit?], skirt is 30s linen, shoes 30s leather hehe)! Hurrah for summer! Hurrah for knitwear! Hurrah for outdoor outfit photos!

Knit Picking I
I have a confession. Although I have a growing collection of 30s knitwear booklets, I love to 'nick' screen caps of some that I do not own or that I cannot afford from Etsy and Ebay listings. Shhhh...don't tell on me. Here's a delicious set I just "captured." Fresh from my morning walk near the woods, I can report that leaves are officially falling from the trees over here. A couple of them even crunched under my shoes!! Yep! Time to put the fall fashion plans into overdrive. Soon I'm going to be knitting, sewing, and cooking up a one-woman storm. What's more, soon I can get to WEAR my vintage knitwear out and about again. Yee haw! Sometimes it's the little things that make a Baroness blissful. Happy Monday! How's YOUR day going?

Fourteen Future Fashions from the 30s and Some of My Knitwear Ladies
When I am not blogging, updating my shop, sleuthing for vintage, or out exploring local sights, I'm usually lost in one of my 1930s booklets. Here is a sample of some of the ladies the Baroness likes to gaze longingly at. Moreso than any other source, I get my fashion and vintage style inspiration from these confident and well-heeled gals. Sorry for the rather sketchy quality of some of them. It appears my scanner does not feel compatible with my newish computer, so am having to photograph images while I try to reconcile the technological issues.

30s Crochet Makes Everything Okay
Oh dear....I fear there is no hope for me where my 30s crochet and knitwear obsessions are concerned. I have no idea where I'll ever wear the beautiful sets I've amassed (outside my blog pics), but I only know that when slipped my latest set on today, I went from feeling like a grumpy, frumpy mess to blissful and ladylike. Sigh, where is my time machine, so I can just send myself back to the decade I know I truly belong in? Other option: find portal that allows me to jump inside 30s Minerva, Monarch, Bear, Fleischer pattern books. Oh, speaking of crocheting, I bought the "Crochet for Dummies" book last week and am hoping to find time to dive in and try some of the basics soon. In the mean-time, I've been sewing up a little storm. I tackled and almost completed a cute pair of shorts yesterday. Will post pics soon.

(In retrospect, this last photo probably looks sorta odd. The plan for this pose seemed better in my head, I think. Pretend I'm holding a cigarette (that's what the crochet dames usually do, don't they)
