Leave a Message about the Tones

So, I recently spied a gal in a mid-1930s knitwear pattern image sporting two tone hair colouring.  I know that this has been a look that has returned many times over across the decades, but had not seen it crop up in the 30s until now.  My questions: has anyone else seen the two-tone look in 1930s images?  How popular/prolific was this look at this time? I know Fleur De Guerre rocked the look, but I think she based her style on a 40s image.

Wow that is really interesting. I've never seen anything like these in older fashion advertising.

Never seen that as a 30s look before! I'd really like to do a front streak in gray (well, I'd love all my hair in gray, but the upkeep would be a nightmare!). Must keep a lookout for this, I'll send you anything I find!

I admit it, I am surprised. But now the song 'Cruella deVille' is going through my head :)
It would be interesting to dig a little deeper and see wouldn't it?

Very interesting photo indeed! I haven't seen any examples of that from the 30s (or even 40s). Some of my favorite photos are of vintage women or men who were doing something a little outside the norm!

Wow, how interesting! I've also never seen anything like this in older advertising and naively I always thought it was a fairly modern "punk-retro" think to do!
I guess that's because all my experience with the streak ahs been through Super Kawaii Mama!
If you haven't heard of her, you should check out her famous hair!

My friend's grandmother still sported this look in the 1960's. For a long time I only ever saw her in a headscarf so presumed all of her hair was blond, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever when I saw the rest was dark!

I can't help, but that's a great image! She looks a bit like Bette Davis.

Wow! That's really neat! I've never seen this as early as the 30's..she must have been a very fashion forward young lady ;)

I haven't seen it before, but I'm very glad you shared it. We get so used to the typical looks that you see in movies and mags that we forget that there were people then that were doing their own thing, just like there is today
