Perennial Pretties

The other spring-like vintage things I am perennially drawn to around this time: 30s candy coloured knitwear.  Last year, spring was just "peachy" (first image); this year, it's "hello, bluebird"(albeit in a less aesthetic background, I admit)!  Actually, I'm selling the blue set in the second image in my etsy shop.  Send me a convo if you are interested!

Flappers in Full Bloom

As February wanes, I long for spring-like things.  Bring on the candy colours distilled in these 20s photographs and floral silk chiffon frocks!

Mad for Plaid

Going through my closet and cached images, one thing is glaringly apparent: I'm perennially mad for plaid!  No wonder I am drawn to 30s fashion, since plaid accents are a staple.

30s Yellow & Black Plaid Top (recently sold along in my shop)

The ever stylish Heidi Rosenau via The Chic Index in a perfectly plaid ensemble

30s style 'altered knit' dress impeccably made by the stunning Nabby for Burns Night.

Gorgeous Amelia Foxtrot wearing darling 30s plaid & cuff set (from Adeline's Attic Vintage) with great elan!

Beautiful Gemma in a 30s style blue plaid 'Jemima' dress made by Vintage Dressmaker

My fave plaid-accented 30s inspired sportswear set made by Nudeedudee

Ralph Lauren Fall 2012: Homme-age to Downton Abbey and Edward-ian Fair Isle Fashions

Supposedly inspired by Downton Abbey, Ralph Lauren's Fall/Winter 2012 collection seems really set on vintage fashion gender bending and blending. While I admit I like the Prince of Wales inspired fair isle-knickers-argyle get ups (more 1920s Edward-ian than 1910s Edwardian), and I'm generally a fan of 1910s rational dress and 20s garconne looks, some of the other ensembles are just borrowing a little too heavily from the menswear department, over-doing the 'homme'-age if that makes sense.  Anyway, I wonder how many fashionistas we'll see out on the streets bravely donning bowlers this year??
