Bomb Girls

Just got word that a show about Canadian women munitions factory workers during WWII called "Bomb Girls" is slated to drop on January 4th.  Have a peek at the trailer for more (feels like a wartime version of Pan Am??).

The hemline on the first girl on the left makes me shudder...looks like she fell out of 1994. THe cleavage on the second girl in from the left on the second one is horrible too! Show looks interesting, but if I study the clothes too much I may punch my TV I think...haha.

Regarding the second picture, the lady on the left looks like she belongs in Charlie's Angel and the blonde, well - she belongs somewhere entirely different.

oooh looks good, see what you mean about a little stylized but if it's well written we can over look it! posting about one today on the blog too so we can all share these 40s era goodies!

Issues aside...Any word this may air in the US? If not, I guess there is always the internet!

Rueby, I was saying very similar things to MD re: the 90s look of the gal on the left and the inappropriately exposed cleavage on the dame in the second image. Oy!

Janey: good question: for now, it's a 6 part series airing on GlobalTV in Canada. IF I hear any word on it airing in/for the US, I'll let you all know!!

Rueby, I was totally thinking the same thing! Reminds me of what we wore in the Swing Revival of the 90's ;)
But yay for another period show. I hope we get it in the US.

Ooh, I'd heard of this but thought it was about American girls - definitely more intrigued now I know it's Canadian! I'm just more drawn to the experience of women in the UK/'Commonwealth' I guess. :) Promo shots quite often end up being quite different than the look of the actual show, I guess - just like pilot episodes aren't necessarily indicative of the way the rest of the show will run. :)

The first photo is so '90s, and in the second, that blonde needs to button her blouse! Not sure how I feel about this. D:

This show looks interesting, I hope it airs in the US. It seems like a cousin production to the BBC's Land Girls, which I've been able to watch on DVD.

Bomb Girls update: apparently, I had posted a copy of an image that did not accurately represent the costuming appearing in the actual show, so I've removed the one mentioned by Rueby et al, and swapped in another one. Will do another post on the costumes of Bomb Girls shortly. Cheers!

The image of them along the brick wall is actually from episode 1. The one with the short hem line portrays a character who ran away from her controlling preacher father; she is going through a bit of a rebellious phase while still rather timid.

ReelzChannel picked up Bomb Girls for the US and will show it starting 11 September 2012 at 10pm.

Production on the 12 episode 2nd season began a few days ago and goes through early December with broadcast likely to start in January 2013.
