How was your weekend? Mine was a bit quiet, except for Saturday, when I went to a vintage sale and scored an incredible early 1930s two toned swim suit...in my size!!! It was the first thing I spotted when I got into the venue. Initially, when I picked it up and looked at the inner seams (which are overlocked), I thought, "oh, this must be some 80s body suit or something," but then I spotted a label inside in one of the straps and sure enough, it's an authentic munsingwear wool knit bathing suit, patent 1930! The only thing I wish is that it had a modesty panel, as I find it rather racey that the lower portion of the suit is cream, not black. I have no idea if I will ever be brave enough to wear it to the actual beach, but it was fun to paddle about the backyard in (quickly got TOO hot, though). One of the coolest finds ever, though!

What a gorgeous find, you should definitely wear it to the beach too! x
It's fabulous! I love the shape and the cream and black together. I see what you mean about a modesty panel, though!
I had rather an unlucky experience with vintage swimwear. In high school, I bought a late 1930s swimsuit at an estate sale and when it got wet, it lost its shape and practically fell off my body! It was rather inconvenient having the bottom of my swimsuit down around my knees! It's funny looking back on it, but it wasn't funny at the time!
Oh wow, what a great find! It looks stunning :)
oh you look so pretty
oooh wow, look at that! Well after showing it to the entire virtual world, you can wear it to the beach. :-) It's just great. But mind Lauren's warning and find out first how it behaves when soaked.
thanks, gals! Yes, it's hard to say how a bathing suit will react when wet, which is a big part of what I meant about being hesitant about wearing it to the beach. I have another 30s knit swimsuit that I wore at the lake and it didn't stretch out at all. I guess it depends on the type of yarn, etc etc? Anyway, thanks for the fair warning, Lauren!!
It's a beautiful suit and the cut is perfect on you. I love the pale cream trim on the legs, yes it makes it racy which suits you:)
You could always add a panel at the bottom Jill, not too difficult to do with some peach coloured fabric :) WONDERFUL find though! Looks great on you.
Oh, what a good score! I say its great and you should totally go for it and wear it if you go to the beach.. the two tone colors suit you perfectly, emphasizing the contrast between your dark hair and enviously fair coloring. Just bring a sarong-type thing for safety, just in case, lol!

Fabulous! I'd just wear it around the house and practice my time step. You've already got the shoes on!
As I told you on Twitter, I absolutely love this! It looks fabulous on you!
So cute! Love the two tone. So funny you feel conscious of the white at the bottom- I'd feel the same way! But considering what is worn for swimsuits now I'm sure you'd be plenty covered up :)
Wonderful find!
Oooh, I love it. It looks great on you!
