In the Navy, Two

My spring "uniform" (and my dance class outfit tomorrow) is definitely going to be centred around this striped jersey top and navy skirt, both 30s inspired separates by Nudeedudee (skirt was custom but top is available in navy or celery stripes).  Knitted cap is Greetz from Tiz.  My goal with this look was to channel a little of the Riviera chicness pioneered by the likes of Coco Chanel but worn to great advantage by one of my 30s fashion idols, Renee Perle, who is shown in the Jacques Henri Lartigue photos below!     Ahoy! Oh, that reminds me. Have you seen the awesome post over at It'll Take the Snap Out of Your Garters!, showing the history of sailor/nautical chic as reflected in vintage catalogue fashions? It's fantastic!

You are too cute for words. But I have a complaint - you make me want to buy clothes and spend aaaaaaall the money

thank you again, darlings!!

Kim: I am so happy! I want to do these beautiful constructed garments justice!!

Trixie: I'm a dangerous person, aren't I? Every day is an exercise of restraint (some days more successful than others!!!). Too much beauty in the world of vintage fashion.....

Nautical clothing is so fun! I compulsively buy breton t-shirts and espadrilles.

Tres adorable!

My sister just bought me some 1930s/40s striped jersey shirting (she said, I kid you not, "I saw in in an op shop and it was really hideous, so I figured you would like it") and I can't wait to make it up.
