Deco Dreams and Reno Nightmares

I wish I could tell you this is a picture of MY finished bathroom renovation and that the gal face down on the tiles is me kissing my beautiful floor in gratitude and joy, but alas, NO!  We have about another week or so until our main bathroom is completed.  Still, I thought I'd share this pic to give my mom and other interested parties a rough sense of what things SHALL look like if this ordeal EVER ends!!  Specifically, the clawfoot tub, the pedestal sink at right, the presence of an apothecary cabinet, the idea of a white and black deco floor...these are similar to what I've picked, though the flooring pattern is going to be smaller white with black honeycomb shaped tiles.  Another slight difference is that instead of tile part way up the wall, we're doing wainscotting and chair-rails.  Otherwise, this loo bears an uncanny likeness to our own.  Even the location of each of the fixtures is almost identical to where everything will go in our bathroom's layout.  So, this is my deco dream that has been helping me through the reno nightmare; wake me when it is over!!  Oh, in case you are wondering, YES, this is an image of a crime scene from an episode of Poirot :) Oddly enough, I had picked all elements BEFORE I found this photo.  Coincidence?

Sounds great, I love honeycomb tiles, and wainscotting in bathrooms. So much more elgant than tiles. I do hope you have a bevelled-edge mirror for above the basin ;)

Oh no! I hope it gets the way you want it, soon.

At first I thought you meant Reno- like the town in "The Women". hehe.

How wonderful - I hope the last of the installation goes smoothly. Once it is finished you should pose just like this photo - perhaps if someone stood on a chair they could get a similar picture? - I think I'll try it myself. Nothing shows off a bathroom quite like a glamourous corpse!

That is such an amazing coincidence, you seem to have so many fascinating vintage coincidences in your life (like the time you saw a picture of someone wearing your dress in the 30s!), I am sure your bathroom will look spectacular!!

carys: I suppose that's true...maybe it's because I keep my eyes peeled for such things...OR maybe there's this weird dress karma I've got. Hard to tell, but I always get a thrill when I make a connection!
