Autumnal Flame

Drawing on the colour palette emerging in the forest as sugar maples shed their flaming leaves where I take my daily walks, and continuing on with my admiration for the fearlessness and playfulness with which women paired different colors in the 30s, I thought I would mention another 30s pairing that seems to have been popular and that I am really loving: orangy flame red (and reddish orange) with rich brown.  I'm currently making a brown crocheted hat and plan to add a cayenne red buckle to it.  I also think I might just assemble an outfit for this evening involving a red 30s dress and brown accessories.  In the mean-time, a couple of visuals to exemplify:  I especially want to point out the third image, which is an amazing 30s gown I acquired for my Etsy shop (yes, it's up for grabs, lovelies, so act quickly if you want to make it yours. I tried it on and it just doesn't fall properly on me, but due to the cut, it just fit my 35.5-26.5-38 mannequin, so would work well on someone this size or smaller even).  It is truly a work of art.  Made of rich rust brown silk velvet, with the most amazing sleeves that consist of flame colored silk velvet flowers sewn onto sheer organdy.  The ULTIMATE autumn deco diva gown.  The seaming on that beauty is out of this world (yet another facet of earlier 30s fashion that makes me swooon).  Well, I have in-laws coming in, which means I shall probably be scarce on the blog until Sunday or Monday.  Have a glorious weekend!

Oh. my. lord. I would kill- KILL - to be back to the size to fit the red and black velvet. And I'd happily spend it. Red, black AND a massive bow? Ooooh... that's so me. You're taste is exquiste, Jill.

That's funny, I knew it was brown, I thought brown, but I typed black. In any case, I want. But hey ... wouldn't that fit you? ;)
