The Ones That Got Away
Now, don't get me wrong. I am so grateful for the lovely vintage items in my baronial wardrobe. Still, I must confess, I have a little cache of images of beautiful vintage frocks that I will call "the ones the ones that got away"; you know, the dream vintage you missed out on, whether due to being too slow on the draw on Etsy or outbid or out-priced on Ebay, or due to the item not being your perfect size, etc. Here's a little post in honour of two 30s colorblocked knitwear pieces (from somewhere on Etsy, I forget where now) that I sometimes still dream about even though they have LONG since gone to a happy home. The colors are so perfect for this time of year! Sobs. For fun, I added two of my favourite 30s deco gals in there as a reminder that if i EVER get my needle skills up to par, I COULD make myself something similar from a vintage pattern. In the mean-time, to the owner of these GORGEOUS goods: I hope you are loving them and cherishing them with all your heart. Now then, are there any item(s) YOU consider the ONE(s) that got away? They were mine on Etsy! And heartbreakingly too small! I sold them to an obviously adorable gal in England! Aren't they just the best!?
Wow- the first one is amazing!
I'm still crying over the three piece late 30s suit I lost many years ago by only a few dollars. :( Had a jacket, skirt, and overcoat with fur collar- all matching. It still went for a steal because it was listed as 1950s. *sigh*
they are breathtaking! as for my list, it's too long and too painful...

Wow, they're so amazing!!! I know your pain, there was the most perfect camel coat in a charity shop for so little money, but it was just too big! It was only by a couple of sizes, but I knew it would always bother me.
I hope those amazing dresses went to a good home at least!

Wow! Those ARE nice. I like your inspiration photos too. They both would be wonderful to craft. I once missed out on a vintage off-white suit that I wanted to get married in--not fast enough on the draw. I ended up wearing something completely different style-wise, but I still think about that suit--it was in mint condition.

That last brown and yellow number is amazing. I once lost out on a fab black 1930s dress with the most amazing floral embroidery... sooo beautiful. Still sulk about it (lost out on it last year!)

Oh, Trixie...I had forgotten (or maybe blocked out of my memory!!) hehe. If the buyer was who I think it was, they are in the best flapper hands imaginable.

They're gorgeous! I make sure to never save pictures of things that 'got away' (and I always delete them from my favourites once they've been sold) because it's just too heartbreaking. ;]
