20s and 30s accessories are so fantastic...I especially adore the little evening bags with the loops sewn in back, created especially so that a lady could still have her purse with her while dancing (I have to laugh at the sellers of such goods who call them "belt purses." These are NOT deco fanny packs, people!!). Lately, I've noticed some adorable little compacts, some designed to be locket-style necklace pendants, some worn on a wristlet chain like a little purse. Personally, I love Clara Bow's compact "earring" below. Why can't modern gals be so creative and compact?

that last one is beautiful, very elegant lines; but the Clara Bow trend wouldn't find a follower in me i'm afraid :)
yeah, they look like heavy earrings, non? What I mean is, these compacts are so lovely, compared to some of the gargantuan purses which women insist on jostling others with in a crowded night spot. Maybe somewhere between a teeny compact and a monstrous purse-suitcase would be a happy medium ;)
yes, it is a lovely object as such, just not hanging from the ear.
i know what you're saying about huge bags...yet they did oversize in the 40s for ex - i can hardly find a corde crochet bag that is not too big for me - i have been drooling over so many, with the only thing holding me back - well apart from the price - being the sheer size of those things!
very, very pretty
You'll take my giant purse out of my cold, dead hands! How else am I meant to carry my water bottle, books, notepad and lunch? D: My ear would just about fall off!
LOL, Miss Emmi! I'm thinking more about evening purses!! We could never go without our day time baggage!!
I have a few vintage compacts, one from the 30's, the rest 50's or so. I find them so fascinating, so sweet and fancy!

How would one use a vintage earring compact? Was the chain meant to be long enough that you could pull the earring in front of your face without taking it off your ear?
The mind boggles!
I think I'll just stick the mother natures own handbag - right down the front of my dress!
