Hat Head, Part One

In a few weeks, a very special chapeau shall be arriving.  In the mean-time, I can't stop staring at images that reflect the style of close-to-the-head earlier 30s hat I have been longing for (for the millionth time, I say to myself, "get crocheting and knitting, Baroness!".  Examples of lovely caps abound in this 30s crocheting booklet.

Ha! I started a pretty pink beret last week. Only time will tell if my knitting will be wearable. =D

Lovely images, I especially love the last one! Makes me want to learn to knit...my mother-in-law tried to teach me last year, but I couldn't get past a straight line (if that makes sense).

Oooh ever so pretty! That'll be nice if I find out how to get the matching hairdo. :-/

Oh boy, those are great. I'm just learning how to knit. I'd love to try and make one of those. Are there patterns available from that magazine?

Thanks, Keith!

Avalon76: ooh, a pink beret sounds wonderful!

Sirens Sexy: I'm in that same knitting boat. Still learning how to increase and decrease, etc.

superheidi: me too. My end rolls never look right

Bella: I know what you mean! I really really want to make one but I am still trying to learn to read vintage knitting patterns.

Celestial: I LOVE that one!

Mary van note: yep, there are vintage patterns in this booklet. I'll try to post some actual patterns in the future.

Darlene: I am indeed a fledgling knitter. Crocheting still freaks me out. I am *trying* to learn new things all the time...if only I had the time and ability to turn all my dreams and schemes into reality. xoxo.

Oh my. These are all so wonderful!! Thanks for sharing. I need to get my mum to teach me how to crochet (which she keeps telling me is easier but I don't see how you can make anything work with only one hook lol)

Yes baroness, exactly the problem. Nice and wavy on top and than it all ends is something sad. :-D

superheidi: ONE day we'll figure out those end rolls! ;)

Casey: I first need a decent scanner. Hopefully you enjoyed the one little pattern I have since posted!

Beautiful.

I have pictures of my grandmother from the 30s. Love looking at her clothes and hats.
