Coronet Close-Ups

A bit more research reveals the hairstyle I was referring to in previous posts was called the "Coronet" style.  Apparently, the look could be achieved with a wall of pincurls or a braided or twisted plait of hair.  A few more visuals.

It is a beautiful style, I'd love to have a go at having my hair done like that!
Have a lovely weekend

Absolutely stunning, I would love to wear my hair like this to work but it looks so complicated (as I find a lot of vintage hair styles to be), I can't even master the pin curl at this stage!

These look very Roman inspired! I'd love to try them out myself when my hair gets longer...

Well, I have a braid on a band and also a braid that I fix in. most of these braids were infact human hair pieces back in the day. It's quite easy to do!! xx

I used to do this when i was a child and had a long plait, but it looked more tyrolean than Hollywood:-(

I do that all the time with my hair! You really need to front curls to keep it from looking too 'Heidi'. I still get called 'Princess Leia' when I do it though :-P

I really love this look. It looks like they're wearing little braided headbands!

It's a very nice look. I love it. The only braids I can find in the USA are too thin, for hair weaving or some such.

How lovely! Gracious, here I am trying to grow out my hair and all the styles I'm falling in love with are short. -sob-

I have seen this "do" many times in the old movies. I bet they used a lot of hair pieces to achieve this look. But is is so elegant and chic looking.

If I didn't live in the middle of "nowhere," I'd ferret out a good synthetic braid. If/when I am able to find one the next time we're in the city where the malls are, I'll be sure to post pics of my hairdo!

In the mean-time, if anyone else tries it out and wants to show us how it's done, I for one would LOVE to see a tutorial (Isabelle? Rambling Fancy? Miss M??).

Andi, bella, D: agreed. Totally think there a major chic factor to this look..and who doesn't love braids, right?!
Harlow darling, I completely relate.

Miss Rayne, Dreamstress: good point to be aware of--must avoid the Tyrolean/"Heidi" effect (which I still think is just darling anyway).

Pixie, yes, the way the ladies are wearing the braids does look headband-esque!

Miss Emmi: I totally agree there is a sort of Roman feel (very in line with the Deco Hollywood neoclassical style of interior design and the Vionnet bias cut look (which was heavily drawn from Greco-Roman draping from what I've read). Very cool.
