Let's Bowl, Let's Bowl, Let's Rock and Roll

When I was in elementary school, my best friend and I became strangely but obsessively addicted to the Grease movies.  More specifically, though, we watched Grease 2 so compulsively that, to this day, I can probably still recite every line and sing along verbatim to every song in that film.  Yes, we are the weird ones who liked Grease 2 more than the original Grease.  Why am I telling you this embarrassing information?  Well, on Tuesday night, as the THIRD part of hubby's birthday festivities, we went bowling with his brother and brother's girlfriend, and I could not STOP the Grease 2 song sequence, "Let's Bowl" from playing over and over in my brain.  Looking back, I have to laugh at how my bff and I would run around singing, "We're gonna scooooore tonight" without any sense of the innuendo. hehe!

Anyway, further to my post about vintage sportswear, I can say without reservation that my Nudeedudee two piece 30s-repro dress (that I got for my own birthday back in March) was perfect for this event. (By the way, Kim of Nudeedudee has a blog. You should check it out).  The ensemble was comfortable and perfectly coordinated with the stinky old bowling shoes they gave us (total coincidence, that).  I got lots of compliments on it and I truly think it helped my game. The humidity we've been having did NOT help (excuse my frizzy mop).

I love the outfit! You know I haven't been bowling in years. My dad used to take my sister and I when we were small, too small to be any good at it really!

Ok, I sense a punk rock girl living inside that vintage 30's shell, missus! HOW FUN! Good times that bowling is! I love your stance...

To this day one of my favorite recreational hobbies is bowling, preceded of course by roller skating.

That nudeedudee outfit is fantastic. Kim's talent is stellar and she's sweet as sugar. Yay- small business!

Love that outfit! Kim's work is very impressive and you wear it well!
Cousin and I were in elementary school when, er. the original Greece came out. We saw it at the Drive In! She was/is also a huge fan of Grease 2. I couldn't warm to it quite as much as she did, but still saw it many times! By the way, did you know the "Rydell High" used in Grease is really Venice (Calif) H.S., attended by one Myrna Loy? There's a statue there (not in very good shape, sadly) that she is supposed to have posed for as a student.

I love bowling shoes. I remember they were popular to wear a few years ago. At least, my sister got a pair of shoes from the mall that looked exactly like bowling shoes and I thought they were pretty cool at the time!

I've never seen Grease 2! But I love the original, so maybe I will watch it.

I used to totally want bowling shoe type shoes! Cool!
Awww, thanks MarieBayArea! It's definitely fun to wear (the plaid makes me feel fun and outgoing for some reason).

Lovely! Glad the outfit goes from day into night, you're rockin it. I think I need to change the description to "1930s bowling outfit" stat!!

Oo and now I have Cool Rider stuck in my head! I had a Grease marathon on the tv the other day while I was sewing, drove John nuts. Then it was Dirty Dancing and Dirty Dancing II!

I have never actually seen Grease 2, I've always heard bad things about it, Mr V actually likes it though so maybe I'll have to check it out!
Lovely dress, I just love the collars!

I'm a HUGE Grease 2 fan, too. =D I used to watch it over & over & over as a child - I used to put on red lipstick and pretend I was Michelle Pfeiffer, singing 'Cool Rider'. Hahaha. That dress really is perfection! And yay for bowling.
