Argyle and Agatha

Speaking of Ms. Christie, I've been reading several of her books. The latest on my nightstand is The Murder on the Links (starring Poirot, not Marple).  Always looking for a fashion connection, the 20s golfers on the cover sort of inspired my next rainy weather outfit. More on the subject of Christie's fashionable female detectives shortly...

Outfit:
Blouse: Jacob clothing (see? once in a while I am not top to toe vintage)
Argyle Sweater Vest: lifted from my husband's closet
Skirt: late 30s
Socks: ??
Shoes: 1960s (were in the shop, but I think I'm keeping them)

My 30s thing has had me searching for argyle lately, but I never thought to try menswear! It looks perfect!

The argyle is so perfect! Adorable look with wonderful menswear touches. I love that you stole the vest from your husband.

There is something so utterly sexy about a gal in masculine(ish) clothing. Reference Marlene Dietrich to understand what I mean here...

You look positively fashionable AND comfortable, which is a HUGE plus in the way of living vintage, but also being comfortable in it. KUDOS, mon ami.

I have always wanted to wear a men's tuxedo, complete with cuff links and bow tie, along with a beret and monocle. Perhaps I will for Halloween this year. Regardless, menswear touches are just the bees knees.

I'm reading a cyber punk novel by John Shirley called "Bleak History." It's got the occult and mystery sewn up quite well. I'm all over the board with my reading too... I will be reading "The Flapper Wife" after I finish this novel.

Anyway, hello up there!

Lovely ensemble as always!
As for myself, while having watched every episode of Poirot for about 5 times, I've only ever read one of the stories in my childhood (never a fan of detective stories when it comes to literature).
Well I did read it again a month ago just to discover to my complete astonishment that the only fashion clues were the brief descriptions of a silk handkerchief and that of a "non fashionable" hat! Hate me for saying it, but I am beginning to suspect the genius resides elsewhere, such as with the ITV producers and costumiers. Really waiting to see now how "Murder in the Orient Express" will look like, since that's the suspect lecture. :)

I like how you borrowed your husband's sweater-- very convenient and it has a 1920s feel when paired with that skirt and shoes. Lovely!

Thanks! Since the style of the sweater look in the 20s was figuratively borrowed from menswear, I thought I'd take the idea literally! Very comfy indeed! A good look for when I don't want to go more form fitting 30s.

garofit: I really must post on this neat subject of Christie and fashion. I've been wanting to blog about a certain young female detective who appears in The Man in the Brown Suit, which I think was Christie's first novel (I'll have to double check that info). There's a fair bit of fashion in there, as I recall...
