Seeing Red, Part One

I've been working on my 1930s sporty sundress (pattern from the Vintage Pattern Lending Library) a lot recently and thought I'd share a couple of photos of it.   It needs to be taken in a bit in the bodice (shoulda done a muslin mock up or fixed it at the pinning stage, but I'm lazy and silly); as well, it needs to be hemmed, the edges need to be finished, buttons and button holes need work, side placket needs completion, need to make belt and possibly the little capelet, but it is getting there.  Of course, I am not sure my inverted pleating at the back is picture perfect (needs a pressing for sure); I also screwed up royally on one of the button holes on one of the shoulder straps and so have to perform emergency surgery on the left strap, but I am really happy with how the revers facing on the back of the bodice looks.  Nice little detail designed to help the wearer get and then show off the deco resort tan.  This red with white star print fabric is a bit nicer than the stuff I was working with before, although it was part of that 10 yards for $7.00 deal I got on Etsy.  Unlike the cotton I used on my shorts, this fabric feels like it has a tiny bit of stretch to it and seems to fall nicely.  Will eventually show pics of me in the finished garment if I in fact EVER finish!!

Looking good Baroness... don't you just long for those really long legs that 30s models had???

I've hit the wall right now as well, Q!

Miss Rayne, the pattern suggests a three inch hem, so luckily we don't need gazelle legs to work this frock! ;)

Thanks for your supportive comments, everyone. Really, I'm fudging my way through, but definitely learning a LOT as I go. I also had the benefit of an amazing teacher, my seamstress grandmother, who had infinite patience and taught me a lot about sewing when I was a little girl. Guess all those times spent sewing with her must have been stored in the memory bank.
