Purls of the Sea: 1930s Knitted Beach Wear

I've never worn 30s beach knit wear. Have you? I wonder how heavy and excessively warm it would be? These images from 30s knitting pattern books look pretty, though!

Cute, but I prefer the sewn stuff, which is a relief because I can actually make it!

I do love that these ladies have figures like you and I - modern clothes are no fun because I just can't aspire to a 21st century supermodel figure!

Blondie and Twila: that's what I wonder: are these scratchy? Do they hold their shape when wet? Do they take on water and become heavy? Easy to clean?

Dreamstress: I have to agree. The thought of doing a whole suit or even pair of pants seems daunting. It is so nice to see images of women with curves and womanliness in all the right places, isn't it?

Frollein: you SHOULD!

Twila: I ADORE that first one, too. Second fave: the swimsuit with the little anchor

Scrapbook: thanks, doll!

Hi this is a question for Baroness Von Vintage:

Can you tell me what year and from what source you pulled the first picture from.

I'm trying to date an old jumpsuit and the one in the first picture is very similar.

Thanks so much!
