Edward Steichen: In High Fashion, the Conde Nast Years, 1923-37
Oh me, oh my!!!!! If I can just get feeling a tiny bit better, this weekend promises to be all about visual delights from the vintage fashion world: fingers crossed, we're re-attempting to see Coco Avant Chanel AND catching the Edward Steichen: In High Fashion at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Steichen not only took photos of some famous people (see below...guess who?), while working for Conde Nast, but he also captured some amazing fashion by some of my favourite designers of the 20s and 30s, including Schiparelli and Madeleine Vionnet. SWOON! Here's a glimpse at some of my favourite images...If you're in the Toronto area, it may just be a great exhibit to catch? If you're elsewhere, the website for the exhibition (which I linked to above) seems like it also could be a great way to experience some of Steichen's work virtually. DOUBLE SWOON!

Oh I took this book out of the library earlier this year and blogged about it! Its such a wonderful compilation of images. Swoon is right:)
Oh, Kelley Anne, I must have missed that post (or I missed a connection between the book and the exhibit). I'll have to check it out so I can pore over the details of the images!
It is amazing to me how modern the evening clothes from the 20s and 30s are particularly now that I have been enmessed in 1955 for almost a year. I look at these fashions, sitting her in my girdle, full skirt and petticoat and they look so smooth and almost bare! That would be a great exhibit. Enjoy!

Ooooohhh....thanks for the reminder! The exhibit has been travelling for awhile now through the states and so happy it's here now. I think I'll head down on the weekend.

I LOVE EDWARD STEICHEN! Sorry for the caps but...nnngh! Last year I saw some of his photos at the NGV in the 'Photographers in the Circle of Alfred Stieglitz' exhibit they had on.

I love the first image, with the shawl, but the lace one never did it for me.
