Outer front of venue
This way to the waterfront patio! 30s dress, Wildfell Hall Vintage; 30s crocheted purse, Dear Golden; 30s shoes, ebay forever ago
Dapper jazz band (gotta get their name), with fedora-sporting frontman crooning Sinatra tunes.
The mister edging into vintage style, with Gatsby pink and seersucker driving cap. :)
Inside the Palais itself, the walls are lined with old photos. I loved these huge prints of 1920s Canadian bathing beauties.
Moment of reflection with Oscar Peterson
Ballroom floor (apparently, there WILL be dancing here. We WILL be back).
For my dad: ocular evidence that Sarah Vaughan may have once played here?
dancefloor, patio, waterfront, jazz, oh my what a heavenly polace!
Gorgeous dress, I just love that tie on the collar! Good on you for getting your mister onto vintage style, mine has developed a soft spot for 20s menswear after watching Boardwalk Empire ;)
I love this! So vintage. You both look wonderful.
very cute dress,i also like your purse very much
What wonderful photos, you fit right in!
I love the bathing beauties photo, particularly the girl who obviously was shunning modern fashion at the time with her waist-length hair. Very interesting to see!
Wow that place is gorgeous! It looked so beautiful on that terrace over looking the water! Looks like you had a wonderful time. x
Looks like you took a beautiful place for an evening of exquisite, being there and enjoy it like a dream .... a beautiful dream.
Oh, that place looks delicious. Lucky gal to visit! And yes, you must go back to dance.
The picture of the jazz musicians by the water just transports me there! Looks ideal...
I'm so glad you all enjoyed "coming along" for the evening via my pics! It felt very very Great Gatsby...
Tasha, that girl caught my eye, too. A bathing "baby vamp," as it were!
Oh my goodness, what a divine looking place! I'm a bit envious, that ballroom...wow! And I love the bathing beauties too, they really put a smile on my face =] They make me want to run for the lake [I think the water in the background of a few shots helps though :P]
Love that picture of the girls in their bathing suits and rolled stockings!
Looks like a lovely day.
Tuppence Ha'penny Vintage
What a fabulous place! I'm feeling rather envious!
First thing above all, I apologize for my poor English (I speak French and Spanish quite better). I've recently discovered your blog and I think it's amazing (and you look beautiful in pictures). I'm a big fan of the thirties -wether you're talking about fashion, artcrafts, cinema, litterature, music...- and I decided, some years ago, to turn back to this fascinating period, tayloring the old suits my grandfather left behind. People think I'm a freak -well, you know, Spaniards have a sharp sense of ridiculous-, but that's the way I want to live (and afterall, there's a price to pay to be free and elegant). Thanks for your work and your blog (you can meet me in Facebook: Club Brideshead).
Thanks again for your comments!
Charles: thank you ever so! I'm very flattered and will try to find Club Brideshead!! I think it is so amazing that you have been able to revamp your grandfather's suits. That is fantastic!!
How fun! Love your dress and your guy's cap! So lovely!!
Baroness, what a lovely place! And you look delightful as usual! The bathing beauties picture was touching. They looked so "alive", my mind races with fanatsies about them especially the girl who did NOT cut her hair... Thank you for you uplifting message. Have finally moved and feeling a little better. D
Ps. Here in Swedenthey will begin sending a continuation of one of my all time TV series favorites - Upstairs and Downstairs! And I do beleive the period is the 1930s! :)
You look amazing, that dress is making drool. x
