Going Garçonne

Sooo, a funny thing happened at the hairdresser's.  The gal cut and thinned my hair so darn much that my natural 30s waves are gone, as is much of the length (see below for hastily snapped iPhoto. Looks like I'm going garçonne for a while.  Of course, this look can work with a 20s style, but I got a swish new part time job recently and had been hoping to move my style towards a slightly more modern edge now and then, so I'm posting some pics of 21st century gals whose hair has me feeling okay with going gamine for a while.  I particularly love the integration of waves into Carey Mulligan's hair. Must attempt that...

I got my hair cut short a la Ginnifer Goodwin a few weeks ago and it's so much fun!

I know it can be a shock. I went from my 20's Lulu bob to a very, very short pixie. I referenced all the same pics as you, but as my hair is also thick and wavy my "G.Goodwin" cut well did not end up looking that way after all the thinning etc... so going to grow it out to that "length" ..one thing I do love is the ease of care and it is modern, and add a hat or a fancy headband and can coax 20's out when I desire... so think I will keep it for a bit.. how about you??

I think it looks great in that photo, though I think people are always unsure of their haircuts for a while, especially when they're radical (maybe that's why I don't get haircuts any more haha!)

It's always unnerving when a hairstyle fails to go as planned (I can count on one hand - with digits to spare - the number of times I was actually pleased with a haircut I got from a salon), but I think this new 20-ish look is absolutely wonderful on you. Very chic and becoming!

I think it looks gorgeous and suits you really well! And it can definitely go modern or 20s easily. I definitely know the shock of not ending up with quite what you want, or your hair not doing what you think it will do after a cut. Right now I'm very meh about how my hair has been of late so considering a change myself.

It's always a big deal when I want to cut my hair... yes? no? yes? no?
But this style really suits you! I didn't know that the french word "Garçonne" was also used in english, fun!

Thank you so much, gals! I am definitely falling for it more and more...and of course it will grow quickly, so I will be back to bob-length before long. In the mean-time, gotta perhaps wear more jewellery and other girly accessories to balance out its boyishness (though I think I will have fun going more 20s and mod, depending on moods). xoxo

Where'd you get that skirt?!

I like the shorter hair as well. Mine has been short and really short over the last four years and now I'm growing it out in hopes of a change.

Thanks!!

Desiree, do you mean the skirt in the previous post? or the SHIRT I'm wearing? :)
