She's So Unusual

While I hope we have a few more weeks (or months) of glorious sunshine, I'm not going to lie: I can't wait for the crispness of autumn.  Yes, you're probably thinking, "she's so unusual."  A key reason why I'm ready to FALL: the clothing! Longer sleeves, darker richer colour palettes, delicious outerwear.  Slowly, I'm working on getting my shop in gear for fall...which brings me to the dress below that I'm getting ready to list in the shop sometime soon.  I think it's a perfect example of that darling 1960s-does-1920s aesthetic that I occasionally wish I was still youthful enough to wear with any regularity. Still, who can resist channelling the college coed cuteness of the likes of 20s sweeties Helen Kane and Clara Bow now and then? Not I. Ah well, you can take the girl out of her 20s but who says you'll EVER take the 20s out of the girl!  For second image, I decided to try on a vintage 20s dress that is already in the shop (excuse the cord that appears to be coming out of my head).

Not unusual at all! Especially when you have those cute dresses ready to wear when the weather gets cooler.

But I love autumn too - everything about it. I also absolutely love it when the clocks go back - now, I guarantee you that people will almost universally call you unusual when you tell them that! I could go on about my reasons for it here, but perhaps I will wait for a post on my own blog come 30th October...

You are not unusual! Fall is my favorite season! I love sweaters and crunchy leaves!

He he, I don't wish for autumn right now, possibly because the only thing we've had over here since April was September-like weather (with not much more than a handful of truly summery days in between). Actually, only the thought of it makes me cringe. Don't take me wrong, I love autumn, but I think each season has its time...Perhaps if I experienced heat waves like some of you I would feel I got more than my portion of summer, however as it is I am very much malnourished in that respect.

I like that dress with the blue insert, very much my kind of dress...

I thought I was the only one who loved Fall & winter so much more than hot sticky summer. I just love showing off my vintage coats!

I've always loved that 1960s-does-1920s look and this outfit is so lovely. College coed cuteness, indeed! SWOON!

Lovely! Clearly we're on the same wavelengths, if different decades! I'm pining for fall campus looks, too. Both of those outfits are fantastic, I particularly love the gray and striped combo.

Nice! You look very trim.

Fall is my fave season of all. That first outfit makes me miss it even more, and with the heat this year I won't be seeing it soon!

Thats 20s dress is so cute! Haha, I like your saying about taking the girl out of the 20s but not taking the 20s out of the girl. :)
I totally get the preference for fall though.. its my favorite season! I even prefer winter to summer - its just so sticky and muggy, whereas in winter you can always bundle up!

Adorable!! Both dresses are so charming!
I just saw "College" with Buster Keaton a few weeks ago, and it left me pining for such youthful '20s collegiate looks as well!

The first look is sublime! It is very vintage and retro but there's something very streamlined and modern about it too!

That first one is SO adorable. It's very Julie Andrews in Thoroughly Modern Millie. ;] And I think it looks great on you.

My! Aren't you the bee's knees! (Sorry, I couldn't resist...) I adore both dresses. I'm not much of a 20s girl myself, but I love seeing the sporty looks from that era recreated. Perfect for fall! (Which I'm dying for... but summer doesn't seem to be leaving my corner of the world anytime soon! ;)
