Closer

By special request, here is a closer look at some of the details of the 30s dress I wore in the last post (sorry, it's not for sale at this time)!

  1. I can't tell you how much I love this dress, especially the sleeves and the belt! It looks beautiful on you, too; the colors are perfect. This might be my favorite so far (but it's so hard to choose)!!

  2. Oh my goodness, I hope you never sell that because you would regret it so much! Amazing to think someone spent so much time and effort on that.

  4. yes, don't sell it, it looks wonderful on you, so much better than seeing like this! But the details are great, thanks for posting close ups - for me that tiny neckline flap detail is the cherry on the cake!

  7. Thank you!! A definitely keeper! Nelly, yes, I too believe it's crocheted. As Solanah noted, the amount of time and care that must have gone into the construction of this garment almost boggles the mind. So special!!! Don't I know how lucky I am!!!

Garofit: yes, that flap is a neat little detail, isn't it. I occurs to me that you could feed some sort of accent (little scarf, etc) through it if desired? I didn't like the look created when worn un-snapped, but surely, it was a feature that was designed more than to be functional? Ah....the beauty of 30s design, non?

  9. The original owner was a much more talented crocheter than I am! I don't know how long it would take, but my guess would be a similar knitted garment would take me at least 200 hours. What a dress!
