Tears of Gratitude for the Kindness of "Virtual" Strangers Turned Real Life Friends

I'm dashing off for a day that may or may not end up consisting of a morning of walking in the woods, followed by a visit to this intriguing set of antique stores housed in a barn and farm house, followed an afternoon of gardening, and a late afternoon/evening of watching the Masters golf tournament with my golf-obsessed hubby.  However, I wanted to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to all of my blog followers and commenters and givers-of-blog awards!  I really really really really appreciate the time taken to visit my little corner of the blog world.  I am always surprised and pleased when I find people are enjoying my whimsical and sometimes outlandish vintage flights of fancy!!  People sometimes paint a negative picture of the internet, but I can honestly say that the "virtual" friends I have met through blogging have been among the nicest, most generous, most creative, and most supportive I've ever encountered.  Moreover, I feel like some of my blogging buddies have a better sense of the "real" me than some of the people I had called "friends" in my non-blogging life.

Before I close this post, I also wanted to share a little anecdote and a photo pertaining to something that happened to me recently.  On Friday, I went to the post office for my daily mail run.  Among the in-coming items was a rather mysterious package.  I recognized the name of the sender from her blog and from my Etsy shop, but could not figure out what was inside or why this lovely person was sending me something.  For a moment, I thought I had perhaps won a blog giveaway that I had forgotten entering.  However, after rushing home and opening the wondrous box, I discovered that a certain generous fellow blogger had sent me the most glorious birthday parcel I have ever received (I have not given this person's name here, just in case she's prefers her name not to be publicized.  If you are reading this Ms. "Heart of Gold," and don't mind revealing your identity, please let me know).  I was (and still am) just completely touched by such a thoughtful, generous, and wonderful gesture.  What's more, every single beautiful and special item in that package is just PERFECTION to me. Literally, someone who has known me for years could not have chosen a set of items that more perfectly speak to my vintage tastes and interests. To feel that someone I've never met in person took such time, effort, and care to select and send such an amazing set of things, just for me, really makes me incredibly emotional and grateful.  I'm getting misty eyed again as I type this, so will end in a moment.  Again, thank you to the mysterious Ms. X and to all you WONDERFUL bloggers, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.  Your kindness re-invigorates my optimism that the world, despite some of its flaws, inequities, and "bad apples," is generally a beautiful place.

P.S: If anyone knows where I can find more info and/or vintage advertisements relating to the 1930s Lady Lillian brand of cosmetics, I'd love to hear from you!

Amazing things do happen sometimes. I have often been touched by the attention some bloggers put into sending their giveaways - nice wrapping paper, lovely notelets, etc. But this is exceptional & everything is so very uniquely vintage. Treasures to treasure.
