Late-Breaking News from the Home-Front: We've Bought a War-time House!

I must apologize to those of you to whom I promised a Marilyn Monroe Niagara re-enactment photoshoot. Didn't happen :( It's going to have to wait until the fall, when I've actually moved to the Niagara region. This weekend trip out East was really really short and completely taken up by hubby and I having to find a house, put an offer and counteroffer on the house, and GET the house (all this happened between 10 am and 3 pm on Sat.)!!!! Wow, huh?!

See below for a few photos of our little brick house. We think it's from the 1940s--according to the current owners, we will only be the house's third owners. The first owner was a lady who lived there for 50 years, then sold in the 1990s to the current folks; however, we'd love to hear from anyone who might have a good handle on architecture to tell whether its style is reflective of the 40s or not? (note: obviously the kitchen is not in its original state: it was updated last year).

Anyway, although some of the rooms are painted wild colours (such as the little boy's Spider Man room, not depicted) so I have a bit of painting ahead of me, this Land Girl is ecstatic she is going to have a backyard and a little attic room for her office. What's more, the little town we are moving to looks like Star's Hollow from The Gilmore Girls, complete with little shops, a little dance studio, a really cool town hall, and a post-office that one has to walk to for the daily mail (no "to the door" post service). Eeee...sorry for going on and on here, but I'm so excited I don't know how I'm going to keep calm for the next two months (we move in late Aug). All I want to do is make interior decorating plans for the bedrooms and living room.

Oh its perfect! You are so lucky...I always look at houses like that dreamily thinking about when we'll have one:)The kitchen is so cute, as well as the other rooms and the back yard. Congratulations many times over!

Congratulations! It's adorable! The rooms have so much potential. The town also sounds lovely - I've always dreamed of living in a place like that. My husband and I are hoping to move into our first house at the end of August as well (but to rent, we're not ready to commit to buying yet), and I've started to become fixated on decorating and am fiendishly seeking out potential furniture pieces to fill it out with! It's so much fun to dream about, isn't it? (especially if you know for sure that soon it won't just be a dream)
