The cottage/cabin we called home sweet home for our stay |
Finished my 30s halter in time, so I wore it a LOT, often with the cotton knit 30s skirt shown. I think I wore the skirt backwards, but I found it easier to walk with the vent in front.
As luck would have it, the cottage owner had a collection of Christie novels on hand!
Exterior view of what I have dubbed the retro reading grotto
View of lake from Retro Reading Grotto. Notice my water-obsessed Cavalier spaniel staring longingly out at the lake.
Looking like a sea otter crossed with a skunk and a chipmunk, our boy Chance is shown doing what he loves best: playing a swimming version of fetch.
View from the dock at sunset
Oh, it looks just glorious!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderfull view.
ReplyDeleteReally sure to read murder novels in middle of nowhere ? :)
Welcome back, Baroness! It looks like you had a lovely vacation, quiet and beautiful; the type that my hubby and I like the best!

ReplyDeletethat looks like a wonderful holiday, and you look more than lovely, as always. the lake looks so refreshing and clear - I wish my dog wouldn't be so scared of water. he could have so much fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, the cabin and lake look so beautiful! I love all the Agatha Christie novels too. How romantic ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! It looks like the perfect getaway. I especially love the retro reading grotto---I don't know if I would have moved from that spot! Well, okay, the dock at sunset looks lovely too.

ReplyDeleteIt really WAS a little peace of heaven on earth. Apparently, it is very possible that one day we will become part owners of this property!! In the mean-time, I am excited about the idea of going there for R n R every summer! I'm really glad we had this opportunity for pure solitude and peaceful relaxation, as, when we got home, we found out our next door neighbour's wife had passed away suddenly, so things are REALLY stressful and sad around here.
ReplyDeleteThe whole place is heavenly and I have to say I love the photo of you in your lovely hand made top, it looks like something from the 30's for sure.I think you are one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever seen in vintage wear xx
ReplyDeleteYou are a vision!! The setting and your look is so perfect, these photos could have been from way back then! Glad you had a lovely vacation, it looks like a great place to relax.
ReplyDeleteOh my, looks like SUCH a wonderful time. The halter looks great. Also, I'm a nerd and had to enlarge the Christie novels picture to see how many I'd read. Only 3 or 4! :O (Out of those, of course ;])

Looks like absolute heaven! My beloved and I would love that kind of holiday - a cabin for him to feel in touch with his rugged side, an ample Agatha Christie collection for me, and a lakeside sunset view for both of us. Now if only I had your wardrobe it would be perfection indeed...

I want your life! It looks like something out of a magazine - the cabin, the lake, Chance, you, the books, your clothes - it's all perfect!
