Oh, as you can tell, I've fallen hard for mid-30s fashion. I'll always have a spot in my heart for late 30s/early 40s wartime style, but I think I've found my vintage niche. I'll take one of each of these delicious coats, please, Santa!
You'll hate me, but I have the one on the left, well a very similar one in a gray tweed with a light brown fur collar. It was given to me by my Nana and I adore it. I think hers dates more to the early 40s, but it is the same silhouette and detailing.
I love the two middle ones as well, so slinky and sophisticated.
The second coat is so stunning the color shape everything. I am more of a late 40s 50s girl but I need that coat. If only we could still order it and at the same price. sigh
Y'know, it's surprising. I thought there'd be no way I could work bias cuts, as I'm also plenty curvy in the bust and hip areas, but I find that some 30s garments really work for me by emphasizing my smaller bits (shoulders, legs), while hugging and in some ways de-emphasizing the hips. On the whole, a gal's gotta go with what makes her FEEL her best self. I thought I'd feel that way in later 40s and 50s frocks, but find that mid 30s and late 30s/early 40s are my favourite dress decades lately. I still absolutely ADORE the later 40s and 50s, too, though...just not on me
Angel, I hear you about the 20s. I would love to look perfect in flapper frocks but have started to accept that the clothes of that era really do nothing for me....yet another reason why I gave up the Frivolous Flapper title. I love the feisty flapper spirit, though...in mind, just not body, I'll always be a bit of a gin-joint gal ;)
