I'm still deciding whether to revive my blog, now that, after a long sojourn in a creative cocoon of sorts, I am ready to spread my wings and soar back into vintage endeavours (selling, styling, collecting, socializing, at least part-time). For now, here's to spring, the season of revival, and my favourite 1920s stencilled silk technicolour dream coat!

Baby, You're a Firework!
I missed posting about Canada Day and 4th of July is impending for my American friends, so here's a little red, white, and blue in the form of a pic from last year's photoshoot with Hello June Photography. Have an amazing weekend, everyone!

"'Costume Party of Our Lives": A Vintage Fashion Feature
It was an utter honour and total thrill to be featured on the front of the Style section of the Edmonton Journal last week, as part of an article about local vintage lovers! Below is a scan of the feature and here is a link to the article online!

Pushing (1940s) Daisies
I just love the daisy stitching on the skirt of this wonderful 1940s wedding gown, which I've just added to my shop! Huge thanks to my lovely friend, Ellen, for modeling!

Verdant Greens
After difficult cullings, it's as if nature is springing forth in the most verdant manner. Good weather means beautiful settings for shop photos. Just added to Adeline's Attic: 1950s celery tulle & lace prom party gown!

Vintage on the Edge: A Photoshoot with Andrea Dodd
I love the edgier visual approach to vintage fashion that photographer Andrea Dodd brought to our recent collaboration! Styling by me; modelling and HMUA by Chantel Hilton.

A Study in Sultry Satin: The Flapper Bride's Dream Dress
More photos from my collaboration with DB Photographics, with the focus in this set being on a dreamy 1920s paneled silk satin wedding gown (with swoon-worthy lace detailing at the front and back bodice necklines), which has just been added to my shop.

Edwardian Enchantment
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of orchestrating an impromptu vintage shoot for the shop with my model friend, Chantel, and talented photographer Brad Gibbons of DB Photographics. Here is a peek at some of the magic we captured when photographing a beautiful Edwardian silk satin wedding gown I had planned to list, but an eager bride pre-bought it when I sneak peeked some of the images on my Facebook and Instagram feeds!

Sartorial Swooning with Miss Phryne
""A woman should dress first and foremost for her own pleasure."
--Miss Phryne Fisher
Yes, I am surely more than a bit late to the party, but better late than never in the case of the costumes I've been drooling over in The Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries series. I adore her style, not only because she seems to dote on cream and red cloches as much as I do.

Spring Sourcing
The spring sourcing season has begun for me, which means you can expect a little truckload of fresh 'new' vintage in the shop soon. This also means I am open to taking on some new local Edmonton-area or Albertan consignments, so if you have vintage from the 1920s-60s that you would like to make a bit of cash on or that you would like to swap for other vintage loveliness, feel free to get in touch!

The New Spring Mode: A Dreamy Lookbook by machinedance vintage and Brooksy Hats
I've posted about the dreamy creations of Brooksy Hats before. Well, wait until you see her collaboration with machinedance vintage. All I can say is: SWOON! Inspired by the kodachrome film and photography of the late 1920s and early 1930s, their Lookbook is definitely the stuff my dreams are made of! Brava, ladies! This is the kind of thing that inspire my own vintage style and shop. Hoping to be involved in similar local projects this spring and summer!

Twice Blessed
What a 40th birthday treat! While out antiquing on the momentous occasion, I happened to find a rare 1930s crocheted dress + matching slip. I had assumed it was shop-bound, until I discovered it was my size! Swoon! Two years ago, I found a deadstock 1930s gown, so I guess I've been twice blessed by the vintage birthday fairy!

Tuna Bake's Vintage Style Takes the Cake
I thought I would take a moment to share a couple of pics which my lovely customer, Claire, had posted of herself in 1930s items from my shop (a hairpin crochet capelet and a 30s cotton dress). At the same time, I wanted to share a glimpse at some of her amazing creations (she's a very talented illustrator). Check out her own etsy shop for more of her whimsical work!

Dressed for Adventure
A recent trip to Banff National Park, a mountain mecca in my home province, reinvigorated my long-standing obsession with vintage lady travellers, explorers, and adventurers (my doctoral dissertation focused on early women mountaineers, so returning to the Rockies for this visit was like reconnecting with a part of myself I had almost forgotten). I may post some pics from this alpine sojourn shortly. For now, however, here are a few insta-snaps from my day of urban exploration involving a stop at the Muttart Conservatory, interspersed with a couple of pics of lady travellers whose spirits and sartorial choices inspired me.

A Special Deco Set
I always love it when my vintage pieces (especially those sold from my personal collection) go to loving homes. Case in point: this wonderful 1920s cotton dress and jacket set went to live in New Zealand with another vintage lover named Jill and I just love how she styled it for the recent Art Deco weekend in Napier! Keep the customer pics coming, lovelies! I am giving away a gift certificate for my shop every quarter and to enter, you just need to forward a pic of yourself in something bought from Adeline's Attic Vintage!
