Ultra Violet
Speaking of amazing 30s French fashion, this GORGEOUS 1930s "Molyneux Paris adaptation" label dress is coming to my etsy shop shortly. The ultra gorgeous violet lace on the bodice and bishop sleeves is gilded! Swoon! If time permits, I'll try to model it so the design features are shown off to even better advantage!

L'Officiel-ly in Love
Just stopping in to share these delicious deco covers from the 1932 run of French magazine, L'Officiel. The colours (and colour combinations)! The fonts! The fashion photos! Sigh, swoon, drool! Sweet dreams are made of THESE!

Back to the Beach
A recent warm weather jag had me returning to dreamy photos of early 30s beauties lounging on the beach in places like Deauville. This led me back to my perennial muse, Renée Perle, which in turn led me to stumble upon a Renée Perle (as photographed by Jacques-Henri Lartigue-inspired fashion photo spread in German Vogue from 2007. To me, the original Renee's style was effortlessly perfect, but thought I'd share some of these modern interpretations (in non-sequential order).

Vintage Easter Parade in Toronto
Haha! Sorry so scarce...lots afoot behind the scenes, including a b-day, a very exciting private tour of the studio of a movie industry costumer, and a Vintage Easter Parade! If you're in Toronto on April 8th, you should check it out! Now, I just have to figure out what to wear and get my Easter 'lid' in order!

Bolero!
Continuing on with the Anthro idea that elements drawn from early 30s beach pajama/resort dress ensembles can work as part of a modern day/street wear look, I'm eager to integrate the sleeveless bolero jacket/vest idea into my wardrobe this year. As luck would have it, I just scored an early 30s beauty on the 'bay! Watch for it in future outfit posts, once it arrives and I'm in warmer climes! I'm thinking of wearing it like the gal on the cover of Modes et Travaux at bottom of the page: over a white dress.

Bullseye!!
In my opinion, Miss L. Fire's Spring/Summer 2012 collection of shoes hit the mark in terms of styles and colours. I'm particularly eyeing the Flamenco shoes in blue (--but the mustard is great too...decisions, decisions), the Siesta in red (would work so well with my 30s peasant blouse-skirt combos), and the Capri sandal (so 1930s resort! Just worry those giant beads might start to hurt with wear. Wonder if they come off?).

Oh, Anthro!
Thanks to its similarity in style and colour to early 1930s beach pajama tops & resort dress bodices, this Anthropologie "Dyad" top made its way into my summer wardrobe before I could stop and say SWOON! Can't wait to wear it with my 30s white linen skirt, maybe some wide legged trousers....Oh, Anthro! Another winner! It also comes with a vibrant yellow block! Double swoon!

Leave a Message about the Tones
So, I recently spied a gal in a mid-1930s knitwear pattern image sporting two tone hair colouring. I know that this has been a look that has returned many times over across the decades, but had not seen it crop up in the 30s until now. My questions: has anyone else seen the two-tone look in 1930s images? How popular/prolific was this look at this time? I know Fleur De Guerre rocked the look, but I think she based her style on a 40s image.

Love this 30s crocheted dress pattern....and REALLY love seeing what looks like a real-life version of it in a recent etsy listing (item sold already). Such a pretty pistachio colour! *Click images for sources.
