Coco & Igor Stills

Some stills from Coco and Igor.  It's been written and said that Chanel's designs and obsessive use of black with white or beige seem to reflect an obsessive reiteration of her convent upbringing and "uniform," but I see a powerful form of elegance and chicness that has captivated my attention since I was about 14.  I think the costumers for this film did a really great job capturing some of the power and beauty of the "Chanel" aesthetic. In this film, black is never boring.

Gorgeous stills--thanks so much for sharing these! (I promptly put this film in my Netflix queue as soon as I watched the trailer you posted!) I agree with the timeless chic of a limited palette such as the one Chanel favored. It really opens up the ability to explore different details and silhouettes, but still remains a constant thread throughout all the garments. Love the idea (if only I didn't have color ADD! haha.).

My pleasure, Casey! I totally agree that these limited palettes put the emphasis on other aspects of style and design, like texture, accents, accessories, and silhouettes (as you mentioned). I used to be obsessively addicted to wearing mostly black clothing. For the last few years, though, I've been enjoying the world of color. Suddenly, though, I am yearning to go back to my "uniform" (like Coco).
