More Flapper Frivolity and an Ode to the Kitty Foyles of the World

Sorry I've been a bit scarce of late. My lovely little Etsy shop is keeping me much busier (but happier) than I had imagined. Anywhoo, since tomorrow is Remembrance Day and I plan to a more sombre post to mark that occasion, I thought I'd post some fun pics I took in one of my other 1930s dresses which I've decided may be the front-runner for what I'm going to wear to Deco High Tea (if and when that blessed event ever occurs....we're now thinking of taking a trip to NY some time soon, so I have NO idea how I am going to actualize all my little dream scenarios, but dreaming is part of the fun, non?)

A note on the "theme" of my little shoot. For whatever reason, this dress makes me feel like a French shop girl from the movie Reunion in France, starring Joan Crawford. So, since I have an overactive imagination anyway, I created a little series of Shop Girl images (sort of an ode to all the Kitty Foyles out there). Actually, since I spent many years working as a "shop girl" I really didn't need much imagination to conjure up the memories of aching feet, pounding head, throbbing varicose vein, lack of lunch due to no break. Whew. I only wish I had a uniform as glorious as the one in the pics, instead of the horrible polyester or cotton unisex nightmares I often had to don.

"Oh, Madame would like a hat from the latest collection? Excellent! White or black?"

"White? Madame has exquisite taste. I'll get this wrapped up immediatement."

"Shoes? Oh, Madame. Let me show you these exquisite velvet heels...."

"Ah, Madame, you are a woman of impeccable taste. I will add these to your other items."
